ServiceNow has been verified by Oracle as a third-party tool vendor. Starting in the Now Platform Quebec release, Oracle’s verification covers both ServiceNow Discovery and ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM).
What this means for you
Oracle will accept data from ServiceNow as an alternative to installing Oracle Global Licensing and Advisory (GLAS) measurement tools. ServiceNow coverage of Oracle products spans wider than the scope of the GLAS-verified tools program.
Using an Oracle-verified solution such as ServiceNow can significantly reduce the time, risk, and effort needed to deploy a script in your environment. ServiceNow SAM provides your effective license position for Oracle and your other software vendors. That means you’ll be able to see your Oracle compliance position and savings opportunities before, during, and after an audit or contractual event.
Keep in mind a report from any verified vendor does not replace an Oracle license audit or revoke Oracle's contractual right to perform one. If you’re told otherwise by another software asset tool provider, it’s not true. Oracle will still analyze the usage data gathered from any tool and generate a compliance statement.
During an audit, ServiceNow verified discovery exports can be provided to Oracle. In addition, the ServiceNow SAM Oracle Infrastructure Report incorporates 30 fields of granular detail, including processor core factor information, partitioning types, and restricted use terms. The Oracle Infrastructure Report is for customer use and can be referenced on demand.
Simplifying Oracle license compliance
From the Oracle Publisher Pack Dashboard, you can drill into further details, such as which database instances have options turned on but not used. Then, you can take action to optimize costs.
ServiceNow SAM can accurately track Oracle for products such as databases, database options, database management packs, Java, and WebLogic Server. We also provide support for Named User Plus, Processor Core Factor values, partitioning technologies, and agreement types such as Unlimited License Agreements (ULAs).
In addition, ServiceNow can discover Oracle databases deployed in cloud environments, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, and VMware Cloud. ServiceNow can also identify Oracle capabilities in a variety of virtualization technologies, including Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, IBM Virtualization, Red Hat Virtualization, Nutanix Acropolis, and OpenStack Virtualization.
ServiceNow Discovery works across operating systems as well, including Windows, Solaris, Linux, Mac OS X, HP-UX, and IBM AIX.
ServiceNow IT Asset Management saves customers millions in software, hardware, and cloud costs. With ServiceNow, you can automate the end-to-end IT lifecycle with workflow. Only ServiceNow connects departments with a single platform to optimize costs across on-prem and cloud environments.
Say goodbye to manual processes and human error from repetitive tasks in siloed tools. Now you can uncover lost assets and purchase sprawl and take action to mitigate compliance exposure.
Manage your Oracle license compliance from the same place you manage the rest of IT. We help make ITAM work better for you.
